KUALA LUMPUR: Thirteen Malaysian firms in a consortium under Mara will have their products such as santan, kaya and chilli sauce sold in Europe. The Food and Agro-based Industries Entrepreneurs Consortium (Komita) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) yesterday with Republic of Ireland-registered ManMa Corporation to handle the marketing aspect. According to the agreement, ManMa would start marketing the products in Ireland first, followed by Britain and the rest of Europe, Komita executive director Syeikh Ahmad Dusuki Syeikh Mohd said. ManMa proprietor Kamarulzaman Abdul Manan, a Malaysian, said he had been selling Malaysian products in Ireland in the last two years but had problems sourcing the right products and producers. “The tie-in will mean that Komita will identify the products and the producers, while my company concentrates on selling them in Europe.”
